Cop found dead

NEW DELHI: A constable posted with the Crime Records Bureau of the Delhi police Suresh Khtri (40) was found dead in his Maruti 800 car at Prashant Vihar here on Tuesday. The police suspect it to be a case of natural death.

Minor assaulted

NEW DELHI: The five-year-old daughter of a Jawaharlal Nehru University employee was criminally assaulted allegedly by a neighbour on the campus over the weekend. The accused has been arrested.

Diplomat's car hit

NEW DELHI: A Maruti Alto car allegedly hit an Iranian Consulate vehicle driven by a diplomat on Tilak Marg here on Monday night.

The Iranian diplomat was negotiating a U-turn towards India Gate around 10-45 p.m. when the Alto that was going towards ITO hit it. A Maruti Wagon-R and another vehicle coming from behind hit the Alto.

Alleging that the diplomat had physically assaulted them, those travelling in the three other vehicles demanded action against him. However, the police said investigations revealed that the Alto driver was at fault and they were planning to take legal action against him.

Energy Congress today

NEW DELHI: The Indian chapter of the leading global organisation World Energy Council is organising India Energy Congress here this Wednesday.

The event will be inaugurated by Union Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde at Hotel Le Meridien at 9-30 a.m. The Secretaries of all energy sector Union Ministries have been invited to deliver keynote addresses. The theme of the congress is "Economic, Efficient and Environment-friendly energy".

Affidavits filed

NEW DELHI: Nearly 14,500 traders filed their affidavits with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Tuesday promising to close their shops if the Supreme Court strikes down the Centre's order on 2,183 newly-notified roads.

With the Union Urban Development Minister S. Jaipal Reddy stating that the new Master Plan would be notified by February 7, the traders made a beeline for submitting their affidavits at various MCD offices that remained open despite it being a holiday on account of Moharrum.
