HYDERABAD:
A fire broke out in State Bank of India's Personal Banking branch at Vikrampuri late on Tuesday. The bank was on the first floor of a commercial complex housing a call centre and a supermarket. The call centre watchman Macherla alerted the fire service.
The firemen broke open the iron grills of the bank entrance and struggled for over 30 minutes to put out the flames. Hyderabad district Fire Officer G.V. Narayana Rao said short circuit in the air-conditioner might have led to the fire accident. Bank officials said the property loss was yet to be ascertained.
