Toddy workers to stage dharna

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: The Kerala State Chethu Thozhilali Federation (AITUC) has demanded that the Government announce its liquor policy.

The federation will stage a dharna in front of the Secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday morning to press their demands. AITUC State secretary Kanam Rajendran will inaugurate the dharna. Federation leaders E.A. Kumaran and U.S. Sasi said at a press conference here on Tuesday that the Government should review the measures taken by the former United Democratic Front Government to ban liquor in the State. The federation demanded that technology be developed and toddy shops be exempted from the distance limit to be maintained from educational institutions and places of worship.
