NAMAKKAL: Twelve village industrial units were established in the district this year through the margin money scheme of Khadi and Village Industries Commission.
Employment
A Collectorate press release said that employment opportunities were created for more than 340 persons through these units. This year, the commission had fixed a target of setting up 72 units in the district, and to generate employment opportunities to over 1,300 people. A sum of Rs. 60 lakh was allotted for this. In the last two years, 48 units were established in the district, and employment opportunities were provided to over 1,300 people, the release added.
Quality of life
In the country, 2.36 lakh units were set up, and generated employment for more than 33.73 lakh people. The district administration invited persons to start industrial units in rural areas under the scheme, which was aimed at enhancing the quality of life of people, the release said.
