Cuttack: Orissa was 202 for eight at stumps on the fourth day of the Ranji Trophy Plate Division final against Himachal Pradesh here on Wednesday. The host now has an overall lead of 42 runs with two wickets in hand. Earlier, resuming at 405 for eight, Himachal Pradesh added another 72 runs before being all out. Mukesh Sharma top-scored with 84, while Ajay Manu contributed 82. Tail-enders Ashok Thakur and Sarandeep Singh boosted the visitor's total with useful knocks of 70 and 50 respectively. The Orissa bowlers toiled hard without any success as the Himachal Pradesh lower order, especially the ninth wicket pair put on 114 runs.
Orissa kept losing wickets at regular intervals in its second innings and ended the day at 202 for eight. Haladhar Das (47) and Sourav Sehgal (one) were at the crease at close.
The scores: Orissa 317 and 202 for eight in 54 overs (Haladhar Das 47 batting) vs. Himachal Pradesh 477 in 187.2 overs (Sandeep Sharma 76, Ajay Manu 82, Mukesh Sharma b S. Satpathy 84, Sarandeep Singh 50, Ashok Thakur 70).
