Palakkad, Kottayam joint winners

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Palakkad and Kottayam, both of which finished with 23 points each, were declared joint winners of the boys' title as the 28th State junior wrestling championship concluded at the Central stadium here on Wednesday.

In the girls' section, Thiruvananthapuram finished on top with 16 points ahead of Kottayam (13).

Palakkad also took the sub-junior boys' title with 39 points pipping Kottayam (33) to the second spot, while, Alappuzha emerged winner of the girls' title with 22 points at the expense of Thiruvananthapuram (19).

The KSSC president, T.P.Dasan, gave away the trophies.

Junior boys: 50kg: S. Sudeeshmon (Idk) w/o Nishad A. Jabbar (Ksgd); 54kg: R. Biju (Klm) bt Aneesh Vargjees (Alp) by fall; 58kg: M. Renjith (Ksgd) bt Moideenkutty (Pkd) on points.

63kg: Jeril Sebastian (Wyd) bt V.S. Sam (Tsr) by fall; 69kg: A. Vipin (Ksgd) w/o Abraham Paul (Tvm); 76kg: Tony K. Thomas (Wyd) bt Alais M. Ali (Ktm) on points.

85kg: Ebyson Thomas (Ktm) bt Chetan Chandran (Knr) on points; 97kg: Vinu Ponnachan (Alp) bt Nithin Venugopal (Knr) by fall.

Junior girls: 46kg: Surya Gopal (Tvm) bt Pankajavally (Klm) by fall; 50kg: P.S. Syamily (Tvm) bt Mariya Roy (Pkd) by fall; 54kg: C. Vinitha (Tvm) bt Lithiyamol (Ktm) by fall; 58kg: E.S. Thushara Kala (Ktm) bt K. Priyamol (Tvm) by fall; 63kg: 1. A. Anuja (Alp) bt Anu Jose (Ekm) by fall.
