Free uniform

ERODE: The State Government has ordered 56.25 lakh metres of handloom and powerloom clothes from the Weaver Cooperative Societies (WCS) for supply for free uniforms to schoolchildren in the district. The Government has placed for orders for the cloth from 57 WSCs. Out of this 22.50 lakh metre would be produced in handlooms and 33.75 lakh metres in powerloom.

The Handloom Department officials said that after producing the cloth it would be processed at the Cooperative Processing Centre in the district and sent to Cooptex. The Government would buy the product from Cooptex and distribute them to students in June.
