KANNUR: Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has said the Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government is committed to addressing the problems being faced by prison inmates. Talking to reporters after visiting the Cental Jail here on Wednesday, Mr. Vijayan said the visit of the Chief Minister and the Home Minister to the Central Jail here showed the LDF Government's commitment to the welfare of the prison inmates. Though the LDF Government started some initiatives in this regard, the stand of the High Court against the issue had created confusion, he said. Mr. Vijayan said that shortage of staff in jails continued to be a problem. The matter would be brought to the attention of the Chief Minister and the Home Minister, he said. The Government would seriously address complaints from the inmates, he said.
