The Hindu newsagents feted

BANGALORE: The Hindu, Bangalore, on Wednesday presented awards to 62 of its newsagents who had distributed its publications for 15, 25 years and in some cases for more than 60 years.

Vice-President (Circulation) of The Hindu M.R. Sivakumar greeting the awardees thanked them for being an integral and vital part of The Hindu family.

Apart from distributing the papers to subscribers they should use opportunities to attract new readers by improving their service, Mr. Sivakumar said.

General Manager (Corporate-Circulation) V. Ravi and Regional General Manager, Bangalore, N. Rajashekar were present.

Agents who had come for the ceremony included the family of B.A. Ramani of Arumugam and Sons of Kolar Gold Fields, whose family have been the newspaper's agents since 1921.

Other veteran newsagents included Sathyanarayana Rao of Tadpatri, Anantapur district, and Kausalya of Holenarasipur whose families have been agents for 60 years and more.
