Five-year-old drowns

MYSORE: A five-year-old girl drowned in the backwaters of the Kabini when an overcrowded coracle capsized near Magge in H.D. Kote taluk on Wednesday.

The victim has been identified as Sanjana. The coracle was over-crowded with villagers flocking to Bheemanakolli jatra. The mishap occurred just before the coracle reached the other side of the bank. When it capsized, the adults managed to reach the bank safely, but Sanjana could not be rescued.
