Staff Reporter

Civic chiefs submit petition to Collector

THENI: Presidents of 18 panchayats in Kadamalaigundu-Mayiladumparai union appealed to the Collector, Har Sahay Meena, to implement development works identified under the All Village Anna Renaissance scheme through panchyats only.

They said the Collector must take appropriate steps to prevent interference from any quarters.

In a petition jointly signed by the presidents of 18 panchayats in the union submitted to the Collector here on Wednesday, they said panchayats could not implement any works independently owing to meddling of politicians.

Group houses scheme

The group houses scheme meant for the current year in the union should also be executed through panchayats only, they appealed.

Already, panchayat presidents in Andipatti union had filed petitions with the Collector last week alleging political interference in executing works in their panchayats.
