CPI(M-L) lashes out at Naveen

BHUBANESWAR: The Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation on Wednesday expressed reservation about the Orissa High Court's recent ruling in connection with road blockade being organised by Visthapan Virodi Janamanch on Daitari-Paradip Expressway. The HC had directed Jajpur district administration to remove the blockade, which had been continuing for over a year after 13 tribals were killed in police firing in Kalinga Nagar area. Addressing a mediapersons, CPI (ML) general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said his party was going to intensify the movement for repeal of the Land Acquisition Act of 1894 and SEZ Act, 2005.

Coming down heavily on the Naveen Patnaik Government the CPI (ML) general secretary said it had done absolutely nothing to address the demands of the Kalinga Nagar people. "There can be no settlement of the Kalinga Nagar agitation till the key demands like land for land and punitive action against killer officials and minister are met," he said.

Panchayat polls

CPI (ML) state secretary Khitish Biswal said the party had fielded candidates for 61 sarpanch, 32 panchayat samiti sabhya and 16 Zilla Parishad member seats over 10 districts.
