`Reconsider decision on primary schools'
Special Correspondent
BANGALORE:
The Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Districts English Medium Schools Association on Wednesday urged Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy to reconsider the Government's decision to derecognise English-medium primary schools in the interest of the students and the general public.
The Primary and Secondary Education Department has decided to derecognise all those schools that had obtained permission to run as Kannada schools but were imparting English-medium education. In a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister, the association said 99 per cent of the people of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts did not have Kannada as their mother tongue. Mr. Kumaraswamy assured the delegation that the Government would soon come out with a solution to tackle the problem.
