BANGALORE: As curtains fell on `The Final Countdown: The Search for the CNN-IBN Indian of the Year 2006' panel discussion here on Wednesday, the six nominees for the eventual `Indian of the Year' title became clear. After a rigorous selection process involving popular votes from the public and the electoral college, the following were chosen as nominees in their respective disciplines: Jeev Milkha Singh (Sports); Dr. Manmohan Singh (Politics); Ratan Tata (Business); Indra Nooyi (Global Indian); Rajkumar Hirani (Entertainment) and Arvind Kejriwal (Public Service). From these six nominees, the jury will select the `CNN-IBN Indian of the Year.' The grand finale to announce the winner will be held on February 6 at the historic Safdarjung Tomb in New Delhi. Actor R. Madhavan; actor and columnist Suhel Seth; athlete Ashwini Nachappa; historian and author Ramachandra Guha; HR director of Infosys T.V. Mohandas Pai and Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) secretary Teesta Setalvad participated in the panel discussion.
