`People's biogas plant' planned

KOCHI: The People's Council for Kochi Development is planning to set up a biogas plant at Fort Kochi, in partnership with local residents and sponsors, to act as a model, decentralised waste treatment. The council functionaries said on Wednesday they intended to project the biogas plant as an inexpensive and simple means of solid waste treatment against the backdrop of the city corporation's move to set up a highly centralised treatment facility at Brahmapuram. They said people's participation was essential for the success of any waste treatment project.
