Workshop on silk printing

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The wide and varied traditional prints on silk from India have captured the imagination of the West from ages. Now, the Central Silk Technological Research Institute (CSTRI) wants to improve the traditional design, which could be incorporated by the silk industry, especially exporters, as a part of product enhancement.

Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, CSTRI director T.H. Somashekar said: "The workshop will enable the linkage between artisans and exporters for mutual growth and bring in new designs to make them suitable for silk fabrics."

CSTRI will use the opportunity to demonstrate the scope for developing a new range of value added silk products, he added.
