THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A two-day District Dairy Festival 2007 will be organised at Kanyakulangara near here on February 2 and 3 under the auspices of the Department of Dairy Development and the 328 milk cooperative societies in the district. The festival includes a cattle exhibition, seminars, cultural programmes, training programmes for dairy farmers, women's meet and pageantry. Various Government departments, three-tier panchayats and quasi government agencies are collaborating with the programmes, organising committee chairman K.Muraleedharan and general convener R.Ashok kumar told reporters here on Wednesday. Prizes will be announced for the best dairy farmer, cooperative society and fodder farmer. Agriculture Minister Mullakara Ratnakaran is scheduled to inaugurate the festivalat a function to be held at the Mass Auditorium, Kanyakulangara on February 2. Water Resources Minister N.K. Premachandran will inaugurate the dairy farmers' meet on the concluding day while Animal Husbandry Minister C. Divakaran and Law Minister M. Vijayakumar will address the valedictory function and distribute prizes to the farmers.
