Thiruvananthapuram: The Capital City Clean City programme of the City Corporation on Wednesday received a fresh dose of assistance from the Government in the form of vehicles and equipment. As many as 11 tipper autorickshaws, cleaning equipment, including brooms, shovels and baskets, and protective gear for sanitation workers such as boots and gloves were handed over to the corporation.
Garbage collection
The equipment, costing Rs.30.76 lakh, was procured under the Theerapadham Urban Development Programme. The tipper autos, which will be used to collect garbage, were fabricated by the Kerala State Agro Industries Corporation. Minister for Local Self-Government Paloli Mohammed Kutty handed over the vehicles and equipment to Mayor C. Jayan Babu at a function on the premises of the Secretariat annexe. Local Self-Government Principal Secretary S.M. Vijayanand, corporation's Health standing committee chairman G.R. Anil, corporation secretary T.K. Ravindran and Agro Industries Corporation chairman Ambalathara Sreedharan Nair were present.
