LONDON: English Premier League leader Manchester United outclassed bottom side Watford 4-0 on Wednesday to maintain its six-point lead over Chelsea, which beat Blackburn Rovers 3-0. Arsenal scored a 3-1 extra-time victory over arch-rival Tottenham Hotspur for a place in next month's Carling Cup (League Cup) final against Chelsea. A Cristiano Ronaldo penalty on 20 minutes, a Lloyd Doyley own goal and strikes from Henrik Larsson and Wayne Rooney gave United a comfortable win despite resting several players. In the League Cup, Arsenal, which drew 2-2 with Spurs in last week's semifinal, first leg, completed a 5-3 aggregate win after French striker Jeremie Aliadiere struck on the stroke of halftime in extra time and a Tomas Rosicky shot found its way in off Spurs defender Pascal Chimbonda. The results: EPL: Manchester United 4 bt Watford 0; Chelsea 3 bt Blackburn Rovers 0; Newcastle United 3 bt Aston Villa 1; Charlton Athletic 1 drew with Bolton Wanderers 1. Carling Cup (semifinal, second leg): Arsenal 3 bt Tottenham Hotspur 1, Arsenal wins 5-3 on aggregate. Agencies
