Harsh Vardhan seeks meeting of the PAC

Staff Reporter

"Examine expenditure by Government"

Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan

NEW DELHI: Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party president Harsh Vardhan has in a letter to State Assembly Speaker Prem Singh urged him to issue directions to the Government to immediately convene a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee so that expenditure during the current financial year is examined in public interest.

Stating that the Public Accounts Committee has met only once since it was constituted in April last year, Dr. Vardhan said since its tenure would end on March 31 it is still not known how without any meetings it will prepare its report on expenditure by the Government departments and submit the same.

"Last year the PAC had made an enquiry into the power privatisation and smart card bungling and it had recommended to the Government to punish the guilty persons.

According to rules, the Government had to submit an Action Taken Report on that report within 90 days. But nothing has been done till date,'' he charged.
