New Managing Director for DSIIDC

NEW DELHI: Manoj Kumar Parida, Special Secretary in the Delhi Government, on Thursday took over as Managing Director of the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC).

An IAS officer of the 1986 batch of Union Territory cadre, Mr. Parida has held several important positions in the past.

He was Commissioner-cum-Secretary for Home, Power and Public Works Department in Arunachal Pradesh, Secretary to the Government of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Government of Goa, besides being Director of the Delhi Jal Board.

Rainwater harvesting: Govt. to double aid

NEW DELHI: To give a fillip to water conservation schemes like rainwater harvesting, the Delhi Jal Board has decided to double the financial assistance to set up the system from Rs.50,000 to Rs.l-lakh.

The announcement will be made by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit at an award ceremony being organised here on Friday to felicitate the best rainwater harvesters.

The Government has been propagating the rainwater-harvesting scheme that it launched four years ago. The scheme, despite its documented success, has not found many takers.

The Government has so far released financial aid to 102 applicants.

Painting and folk dance competition

NEW DELHI: Nehru Bal Samiti is organising a painting and folk dance competition at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture here on February 6 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Indo-Russian diplomatic relations.

The topics for the painting competition include "A vegetable shop or fruit shop" and "Tree planting campaign" for children between four and seven years; "Snake charmer" and "Visit to a zoo" for children from seven to ten years; "Republic Day Parade" and "Celebrating Indo-Russian friendship" for children from 10 to 18 years.

Each school can send up to 24 paintings (eight in each group) and one entry of eight to ten children in the age group of eight to 15 years for the dance competition.
