CHAMARAJANAGAR: A male elephant was electrocuted at Yeraganahalli in Chamarajanagar taluk on Tuesday. The body of the elephant was found near the farm of Mahadevappa of Yeraganahalli. It is said that the elephant died after stepping on a live wire fixed illegally to the fence of a farm to protect crops. Forest officials visited the spot. The villagers said that they would stage a dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office if forest officials did not take steps in connection with the elephant's death.
