BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court has appointed 20 persons to the posts of law clerk-cum- research assistant. The court had last week commenced the process of interviewing law students for the post. It had in December 2006 invited applications for the posts. It was conceived as a project in connection with the court's golden jubilee celebrations to encourage young and talented law graduates to join the legal profession, familiarise them with court procedures and expose them to different kinds of litigation. Some of the responsibilities of the new appointees are reading of case files, ; identifying facts and issues and questions that may arise or may have to be addressed; taking notes of arguments and citations during the hearing; and research work on case law, books and articles for assisting the judge in preparation of the judgment. Those selected include Sharanabasappa B. Khembhavi; Sharmila H.S.; Divyashree C.M.; Vidya G. Agansankoppa; Navya M.S.; N.S. Vijayanth Babu; Jyoti M. Mardi; D. Usha; M.S. Satish; Suchitra Suman M.; Dhanalakshmi R.; Jyothi K.B.; J. Sindhu Pradha; Suresh S. Shettemmanavar; Tushar B. Bungley; Srikanth T.; Kichadi Shankar Channappa; Vinay Bhagavan; H. Chandrashekar; and Sharada S.S.
