Families accuse investigating agency of negligence

NEW DELHI: Well over two weeks after the search was called off, some more human body parts were recovered on Thursday from outside the Noida residence of Moninder Singh, the accused in the Nithari killings.

Locals found four human jaws in a pile of slush that had been removed from a drain outside Moninder's house. The matter was brought to the notice of Central Bureau of Investigation officials, following which a team reached the spot and collected the body parts. As news of the recovery spread, residents rushed to the scene. The families of children missing from nearby areas who have been staging protests at Noida Sector 31 also reached the site and accused the investigating agency of negligence.

While the CBI officials are still awaiting the findings of the forensic tests, they suspect that Simranjit Kaur, the former Nithari police post in-charge who was dismissed on charges of negligence in investigating the cases of the missing children, may have had a bigger role to play than just allegedly accepting favours from Moninder.

During the raid at her Meerut residence on Tuesday, the agency recovered papers relating to the missing children. The CBI will in all likelihood interrogate her to know more about the case of the abduction of a 20-year-old woman, in which Moninder and his servant Surender Koli have been named as accused by her father.
