Candidate attempts suicide

BANGALORE:
High drama prevailed at a dharna by candidates nearing the age-limit for teachers' recruitments at Banappa Park here Thursday. One of the demonstrators, 37-year-old Siddhaiah allegedly attempted suicide by consuming an insecticide.
Mr. Siddhaiah, who the police said had consumed insecticide, was immediately rushed to Mallya Hospital. He later recovered, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police B.B. Ashok Kumar.
Mr. Siddhaiah was a resident of Honnali in Davangere. The incident took place at about 7 p.m. inside the park located in the Ulsoorgate police station limits.
Juvenile home break: One held
The City Railway police caught a 14-year-old boy who was among the 46 juvenile children who escaped from an observation home here on Sunday. The boy was taken into custody at the City Railway Station. He is suspected to be one of the boys who had masterminded the escape.
