FINALLY OUT: Cine artiste Jayanthi addressing the gathering at the release of `Saavira Mettilu' in Hassan on Friday. Former Minister Srikantaiah and producer Basave Gowda are seen.
HASSAN: Film artiste Jayanthi on Friday appealed to the people to encourage Kannada films. She was addressing the gathering at the release of "Saavira Mettilu" here. Ms. Jayanthi said the film was abandoned by Puttanna Kanagal 38 years ago after shooting 6000 ft of film. It was D.B. Basave Gowda, producer of the film, who took interest and continued the film under the direction of K.S.L. Swami (Ravi). The film had many records. "I acted as the heroine then and again acted as its heroine in the film after 38 years. All the living artistes continued in the film." Ms. Jayanthi said: "You do not feel any difference in the story though it was revived after 38 years. Mr. Basave Gowda has knitted the film well. He has given a good film to the audience. You must encourage Kannada films and make them a success." Senior Congress leader and former Minister H.S. Srikantaiah lighted the lamp to inaugurate the release function. Mr. Basave Gowda welcomed the gathering.
