Golf
Dubai: Ross Fisher was five shots clear of defending champion and World No. 1 Tiger Woods at the midway stage of the Dubai Desert Classic golf tournament here on Friday. India's Jyoti Randhawa was seven-under after six holes in the second round. He was one-under for the day. Harmeet Kahlon fired a 73 and was two-under for 36 holes while Jeev Milkha Singh was also two-under but had nine more holes to play. The cut looks likely at two-under.
Digvijay tied seventh
At Manila, Digvijay Singh kept the Indian challenge going at the Philippines Open, leading four Indians into the weekend action at the Wack Wack Golf and Country club. Digvijay shot three birdies and as many bogeys to card an even par 72 that pegged him at tied seventh at three-under 141. Only four of the nine Indians in the field made the cut Digvijay, Uttam Singh Mundy (70) and Gurbaaz Mann (75), both at one-over and tied 36th, and Arjun Singh (75) at 65th place. At Scottsdale, Arizona, Daniel Chopra started his campaign at the FBR Open with a five-under 66 that put him in tied eighth place, just two off the lead after a chilly and cold day on Thursday.
