DUBAI: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is set to meet Khaled Meshaal, leader of the militant group Hamas, next week in Saudi Arabia to stop the spiralling factional violence, which has claimed 17 lives since Thursday night. Mr. Abbas who heads the Fatah movement is expected to meet the top leader of the rival Hamas on Tuesday. The two had met last month in Damascus to discuss formation of a national unity government. However growing factional violence has prevented the political initiative from taking root. Around six persons, including a child were killed on Thursday, while at least 10 more died in heavy fighting on Friday. Fatah security personnel on Friday raided the Islamic university campus a Hamas stronghold in Gaza. Eyewitnesses said in the fighting that followed, a fire broke out inside the university premises. Fatah claimed that seven Iranian military advisers to Hamas were detained, while one
