CHENNAI: While welcoming the recent order of the Bombay High Court on triple talaq at one time, the Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali, said on Friday that there was absolutely no sanction in the Holy Koran or Hadidth (authentic sayings of the Holy Prophet) for triple talaq at one sitting. He said the Holy Koran had to prevail insofar as the issue of talaq was concerned. If the procedure of triple talaq was to continue on the basis of centuries-old tradition, it could not make a wrong right or abrogate the Holy Koran. He called upon Muslim scholars to urge people to follow the true and correct religion, and create an awareness of the need to follow the Islamic principles of talaq.
