CENTRE OF ATTRACTION: The painting exhibition organised at KLES Hospital & Medical Research Centre attracts young connoisseurs in Belgaum.
Belgaum: The spacious reception area of the KLES Hospital & Medical Research Centre here came alive with a two-day painting exhibition-cum-sale during the weekend. Thirty students of J.N. Bhandari School of Fine Art, Belgaum, exhibited their talent on the occasion. Forty paintings on various subjects were on display. The paintings by Rupesh Gawali, Ajit Mise and Namrata S. Sutar won the first, second and third prizes, respectively. Of the 40 works, five were sold for more than Rs. 10,000 each. A few connoisseurs of art and visitors to the makeshift art gallery said the quality of paintings was much better than some of the seasoned artists. The response was mainly from visitors, including patients and their relatives, doctors, medical students and other staff of the hospital. The objective of organising the exhibition was to present the paintings to a larger section of people. Besides visitors from the region, people from Goa and Maharashtra also visited the exhibition, Pramod, public relations officer of the KLES, said.
