THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kalamandalam Gopi (kathakali), KPAC Khan (drama) and T.V. Gopalakrishnan (mridangam) have won the fellowships of the Kerala Sangeeta Nataka Akademi for 2006. The Sangeeta Nataka Akademi awards for the year went to G. Seethalakshmiammal (classical music), C. Rajendran (violin), Pazhayannur K.G. Krishnankutty (nagaswaram), Alappuzha Chandrasekharan Nair (thalavadyam), KPAC Chandrasekharan (light music), Poovachal Khader (light song), Neeleswaram Sreedharan (drama actor), Leela Panicker (drama actress), Karivellur Murali (playwright), Kalamandalam Vasudevan (kathakali), Deepthi Omcheri (mohiniyattam), Jancy Sebastian Thrippunithura (margamkali), Paynkulam Damodara Chakyar (koodiyattam) , Margi Somadas (chenda), Beban Kaimaparamban (broadcasting), Krishnan Anjoottan (theyyam), and Manampoor D. Radhakrishnan (kathaprasangam). Jayaprakash Kulur (drama - C.I. Parameswaran Pillai endowment) and C.H. Gopalan Kurikkal (folk arts - T. P. Sukumaran endowment) bagged the endowment awards. The Gurupuja prizes of the Akademi were won by Kalamandalam V.R. Padmini (dance), P. Vijayalakshmi (actress), Kochunarayana Pillai (drama), T.K. John (actor), Moozhikulam Kochukuttan Chakyar (chakyarkoothu), Avaneeswaram N. Ramachandran (classical music), Chirakkara Madhavankutty (kathakali), Kalamandalam Ramachandran Unnithan (kathakali), R.P. Puthur (kathaprasangam), M.K. Sivasankaran (broadcasting), C.S. Radhadevi (music, broadcasting), Kalamandalam Rajan (kathakali), Gopalakrishna Kurup (yakshagana), V.P. Joseph Valiaveettil (chavittunatakam), Peradippurathu Thevan (folk arts), Maradu Joseph (actor), P.N.M. Alikoya (mappila pattu), Kuttiyedathi Vilasini (actress), C.H. Bhaskaran Nambiar Aduthila (drama direction), Sundareswari Amma (keralanatanam), Kalamandalam Ramamohanan (kathakali - chutti, chamayam). Announcing the awards, Education Minister M.A. Baby and Akademi chairman Murali said that each fellowship carried Rs.15,000, a citation and plaque. The awards and prizes carried Rs.7,500 and Rs.5,000 each besides a citation and plaque.
