THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: To resurrect his fortunes in one-day internationals, Test cricketer S. Sreesanth has decided to follow Brian Lara's advice in the forthcoming one-day internationals against Sri Lanka. Speaking to newspersons during his visit to Marion Play home, a special school for the mentally challenged, Sreesanth said Lara told him that one-day international was a simple game. "You will find a totally different Sreesanth in the next match at Kolkata. I have decided to keep it simple and uncomplicated," he said. Sreesanth, after his ordinary performance in the one-dayers against West Indies, said pressure was on him to perform especially when there is competition in the team for a place in the World Cup squad. "It was a great challenge for me to get into the Indian team from Kerala. Like I always said healthy competition is good for Indian cricket. But World Cup is still a long way off and I am concentrating on doing well against Sri Lanka. I will not be disappointed nor will I ask any questions if I am not picked for the World Cup squad," the fast bowler said. Sreesanth spent some time with the children. He posed for photographs and signed autographs. The Test cricketer also handed over a cheque of Rs. 1 lakh collected by Smiles, the charity foundation of his sponsor, to the school authorities.
Chess tournament
The Chess Association of Ernakulam will conduct a rapid chess tournament at the Federal Bank Officers Association Hall, Aluva, on Sunday. Competition for seniors and juniors (under 18) will be conducted. Interested players are to report at the venue at 9.30 a.m.
