ADILABAD: Basar IIT Sadhana Samiti activists will picket the Collectorate on February 5, the date on which the Adilabad District Review Committee (DRC) meeting is slated to be held here. At a press conference on Friday, Samiti Adilabad unit convenor Lanka Raghavulu and co-convenor Ch. Suhasini Reddy said because the issue pertains to establishment of IIT in Adilabad district, the DRC ought to take it up. They urged the Congress MLAs to put pressure on the Government for the IIT to be set up at Basar. Among the other agitational programmes that were planned subsequent to Thursday's maha dharna are a padayatra by women activists from Penganga river bridge on the Andhra Pradesh-Maharashtra border to Hyderabad and a `chalo Hyderabad' programme during the budget session of the Assembly. The dates would be decided shortly in coordination with the Samiti's Nizamabad unit, the leaders said. The Samiti thanked all those who extended help for making Thursday's maha dharna programme a success. Sangareddy staff reporter writes: Former Minister and TDP leader Babu Mohan has said that even though the party is bound by the Assembly resolution for IIT in Basar, it would not object if the technical committee grants the IIT to Medak. ]He, along with another TDP leader Suddala Devaiah was here to participate in the party's membership drive programme near the old bus stand. Speaking to reporters, he clarified that TDP is not against IIT in the district. However, he demanded that the IIT should be located in Andole not because it was his erstwhile constituency but because it sacrificed its drinking water to the twin cities. Responding to a question on the ongoing controversy of the Telugu movie's diamond jubilee award function Babu Mohan supported Mohanbabu's point of view and said that the committee has ignored stalwarts like Bapu, Mullapudi Ramana, Ramaprabha, Rallapalli and Sutthi Velu. Babu Mohan also participated in the membership drive held at Fasalwadi.
