Get water samples tested at Metrowater stall

CHENNAI : Visitors to the Tourist Trade Fair at Island Grounds can test the quality of groundwater in their wells at the pavilion put up by Chennai Metrowater at the Fair.

Water samples from open wells and borewells need to be brought in 2-litre clean plastic containers. People may collect the water quality results from the Metrowater laboratory, 1, New Avadi Road, Kilpauk in about 10 days.

The water samples presented at the fair would be tested for physical and chemical parameters including total alkalinity, calcium, iron, total hardness and nitrate at a concessional rate of Rs.50. The water test report will also be sent through courier on request, for which an additional cost of Rs.10 has to be paid along with postal address. A Metrowater official said that the stall received 147 samples in three months at the trade fair organised last year. This year, three water samples have been given for testing so far.

Normally, these tests cost Rs.75 for individual houses and Rs.200 for apartments, he added.
