CCTVs at 20 key junctions

CHENNAI: The government has sanctioned Rs 2.01 crore for installing close circuit televisions (CCTV) at 20 key junctions here on Friday.

In a bid to ensure that motorists obeyed traffic rules in the city, the CCTVs would be installed at the following junctions for effective monitoring and action: 1.War Memorial. 2. Secretariat exit gate. 3.Kathipara. 4. Valluvarkottam. 5. Anna Statue. 6. Wheels India. 7. Periyar Statue. 8.Velacheri-Vijayanagar bus stand. 9. Madhya Kailash. 10. Halda. 11. Raj Bhavan Main entrance. 12. SRP Tools. 13. SIET College - Cenotaph Road. 14. 100 feet Road-Vadapalani. 15. Porur. 16. Ashok Pillar. 17. Anna Nagar roundtana. 18. S N Chetty Salai-Toll Gate. 19. Airport and 20. Greenways Road.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sunil Kumar said the installation of the CCTVs would be completed within this fiscal. They will be monitored from the traffic control room.
