Post office upgraded

CHENNAI : The Okkiam Thoraipakkam branch post office was upgraded to Departmental Sub Post Office on Thursday. T. Panneerselvam, Postmaster General, Chennai City Region, inaugurated the office in the presence of panchayat president Ekambaram. The Departmental Sub Post Office would be open eight hours a day and would provide facilities for various kinds of savings accounts and the payment of telephone bills.

Ayurveda camp

DheergaAyush, an Ayurveda medical centre, would be conducting a medical camp from Sunday to Wednesday for treating neck, lower back and knee pain. The centre offers free consultation and 10 per cent off on medicines and Kerala Ayurveda treatment and medicines like Pizhichil, Elakizhi, NavaraKizhi and Dhara. Manuscripts Day

Manuscripts Day is being observed at the Government Museum on Wednesday. Those possessing paper or palm-leaf manuscripts can use the opportunity to get the manuscripts read and conserved with the help of museum officials free of cost. An essay competition has been organised for school students above the age of 15 and college students on `The Role of Students in Preserving Manuscripts' in Tamil. Each college can send in three entries and each school can send in one to V. Jeyaraj, Project Coordinator, Manuscripts Conservation Centre, Government Museum, Chennai - 600 008 before 5 p.m. on Monday through the Principal or Head-Master/Mistress. The participants should be present at the Museum Theatre on Wednesday morning.

Free Telugu classes

E-tax filing course

The Guild of Information Technology, a unit of Stenographers' Guild, T. Nagar, would be introducing a one-month training course in e-tax filing, incorporating recent changes to the Income Tax Act.
