State to penalise `truant' B.Ed colleges

HYDERABAD: The Government has decided to penalise heavily B.Ed colleges that violated norms in admissions in the last two years and include them in the counselling list this year only if they pay the fine before the counselling begins.

According to a G.O. issued on Friday, colleges that resorted to methodology deviation would have to pay Rs. 5,000 per seat. Admissions made in excess in certain subjects in 2003-04 and 2004-05 would be substracted in those colleges for this year admissions.

Colleges admitting non-minority candidates against minority seats without the approval of the Convenor would have to pay Rs. 25,000 per each admission made. A penalty of Rs. 50,000 per each admission is imposed against candidates admitted in the B.Ed course though their names were not found in the merit list.
