Odakuzhal award presented

KOCHI: Writer C. Radhakrishnan received the Odakuzhal award 2006 instituted by the Guruvayoorappan Trust here on Friday. Literary critic M. Leelavathy presented the award. Poet K.V. Ramakrishnan inaugurated a poets' meet held at the venue.

He said a trend to do away with rhythm in poems was growing in Malayalam poetry.

Mr. Ramakrishnan urged the new generation poets to show more commitment to their work. Poet Chemmanam Chacko said he had always criticised the social and political happenings in the State through his poems

Meeting on

waste disposal

KOCHI: A meeting to chart out an action plan for waste disposal in Kochi will be held at Ernakulam Town Hall at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Minister for Local Self-Government Paloli Muhammad Kutty, Minister for Fisheries S. Sarma and various city stakeholders will attend the meeting.
