Two murdered

MADURAI: Two persons were murdered in different incidents in the district on Thursday.

According to sources, P. Chellakannu (55) of West Nattarmangalam near Kottampatti was murdered when he tried to prevent G. Bhanumathi (35) and her husband V. Ganesan (37) of the same village from attacking his son, C. Selva Kumar (28). Following previous enmity in connection with a civil dispute, the suspects waylaid Selva Kumar when he was returning home from the field. When Chellakannu tried to intervene, he was stabbed to death. The suspects escaped the scene.

In another incident in Usilampatti, the body of an unidentified person was found with stab injuries. Special teams have been formed to check the identity of the personas locals claimed that he was never seen in the area before. The Superintendent of Police, T.S. Anbu, visited the scene of offence.
