NEW DELHI: A 12-year-old student was tortured and kept in confinement for about a month in a Bara Hindu Rao madrassa in North Delhi. The victim, who sustained burn injuries all over his body, has been admitted to Bara Hindu Rao Hospital. The incident took place on January 5 when the wife of a madrassa teacher, identified as Mahi Noor, allegedly poured hot water on the victim. The student sustained severe burns, but was allegedly not taken to hospital. Instead, he was kept in confinement and his relatives were also not allowed to meet him. On January 28, the victim's father, who is a daily-wage labourer and lives in Noida, managed to secure his release and lodged a complaint with the police. On the basis of the boy's statement, a case was registered.
