Revenue site owners stage protest

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Hundreds of revenue site owners, land developers, real estate agents and deed writers staged a protest in front of Town Hall against the Karnataka Land Revenue (Amendment) Ordinance and urged the Government to start registration of revenue sites that have been banned following the Ordinance.

Calling for regularising the revenue sites in the Greater Bangalore area, they also demanded that the Government protect them against acquisition process initiated by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA). The association, in a release, said that those who failed to get a site from the BDA or Karnataka Housing Board were forced to buy revenue sites.

It said, "Following the Ordinance thousands of site-seekers have been affected as they have already made partial or full payment to the land developers after entering into an agreement. The Ordinance has, however, prevented the registration of such sites."
