Effort being made to revive these units, says Karim

PATHANAMTHITTA: Industries Minister Elamaram Karim has said the Government would consider one-time financial assistance to ailing public sector units (PSU) in an earnest effort to revive them.

Mr. Karim was inaugurating the product diversification plant at the State-owned Traco Cable Company in Thiruvalla on Saturday. He said the Traco Cables Company would be provided financial assistance to the tune of Rs.3 crore.

57 PSUs in State

According to the Minister, out of the 57 PSUs in the State, 12 were remaining closed and 17 others were identified as loss-making units. He said the co-operation of workers was most essential for the smooth functioning of the PSUs and for the revival of the sick units.

Transport Minister Mathew T. Thomas presided over the function. Adoor Prakash, K.K. Shaju, MLAs and Industries and Commerce Principal Secretary T. Balakrishnan also spoke.
