HYDERABAD: Live operative sessions beamed from three major corporate hospitals to the Shilpa Kala Vedika here will mark the inauguration of the four-day 2nd International Congress of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASICON 2007) on February 8. Being organised by the Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India, the largest body of laparoscopic surgeons in the country comprising 2,500 members, the conference will be attended by delegates from the US, Italy, Brazil, Hong Kong, China, the United Kingdom and Singapore. Organising secretaries of AMASICON B. Narsaiah and G. Suresh Chandra Hari told reporters here on Saturday that laparoscopic surgery or keyhole surgery was becoming more common since it was less painful than conventional surgery. Dr. Suresh Chandra said at least 1,500 delegates had confirmed their participation in the conference scheduled to be inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Health Panabaka Lakshmi. The live operative workshops will cover the entire gamut of minimal access surgery.
