NEW DELHI: Alexander Kudryavtsev of Russia downed Todor Enev of Bulgaria 6-4, 6-2 in the final of the Oil India $15,000 ITF men's Futures tennis tournament at the DLTA Complex here on Saturday. The 21-year-old Kudryavtsev got off to a bright start, breaking Enev, the champion last week at Kolkata, in the first and third games. The Bulgarian recovered to break back in the fourth with a couple of spectacular winners, but did not have the energy to make a fight of it any further. Kudryavtsev took a 4-0 lead in the second set and was too good to be checked by a tired Enev. It was the maiden singles title for Kudryavtsev, who had lost to Sanam Singh in the first round on clay last week. He had lost his other final last April in a similar tournament in Uzbekistan in the third set tie-break.
Double delight
Kudryavtsev had won the doubles title earlier with Alexei Kedriouk of Kazakhstan. It was his eighth doubles title and third in a row. The singles winner collected 24 ATP points and $1950, while the runner-up bagged16 ATP points and $1350.
