Kohima:
Former Kerala Minister K. Sankaranarayanan was on Saturday sworn in as the new Governor of Nagaland.
Acting Chief Justice of the Guwahati High Court D. Biswa administered the oaths of office and secrecy at a function at the Raj Bhavan here.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, his Cabinet colleagues, Leader of the Opposition I. Imkong, legislators from the ruling coalition and the opposition Congress, senior Government officials and public leaders attended the ceremony. Mr. Sankaranarayanan is the first politician to be appointed by the Union Government as the Nagaland Governor in the past two decades. Earlier appointees were either retired Army generals or police chiefs. PTI
