PATHANAMTHITTA: Cherukolpuzha, a small village on the banks of river Pampa, near Kozhencherry, is all spruced up for the week-long annual Hindu religious meet that begins on Sunday. Visvesha Theertha swami, head of the Udupi Pejawar Math in Karnataka, will inaugurate the 95th Ayroor-Cherukolpuzha Hindumatha Parishad on the sand bed of the Pampa at 2.30 p.m. According to T.N. Upendranatha Kurup, president of the Hindumatha Maha Mandalam (HMM), that organises the meet, V.N. Rajashekharan Pillai, Vice-Chancellor of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), would preside over the inaugural meet.
Benediction
Swami Sandeep Chaitanya, director of the School of Bhagavad Gita, will deliver the benedictory speech and Hindu Aikyavedi State general secretary Kummanam Rajashekharan would deliver the keynote address on the occasion. Chief priest of Chakkulathukavu Bhagavathy Temple P.D. Radhakrishnan Namboodiri would deliver a religious discourse. K.C. Rajagopalan and Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, MLAs, would also address the function. Water Resources Minister N.K. Premachandran would inaugurate the youth meet on February 7. The Ayyappa Bhakta Sammelan to be held on February 8 would be inaugurated by Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan. Akhila Bharatha Ayyappa Seva Sanghom president Thennala Balakrishna Pillai, MP, would preside over the meet.
