Rectified spirit unearthed

Puducherry: A team of officials belonging to the State Excise Department unearthed "illicit rectified spirit" kept in 100 plastic containers at Kuruvinatham near here on Saturday. Each of the containers had 35 litres of the spirit. On a tip off, the team rushed to the village and located a consignment of 50 containers in a dilapidated building and another consignment of 50 containers in a pit close to the building.

The pit was found closed with concrete slabs. A case had been registered and further investigation was on.
