CHENNAI: An increasing number of firms are putting business intelligence (BI) on top of their priorities as using insights to drive actions becomes a business imperative, according to S. P. S. Grover, Vice-President (Sales), Oracle India Private Ltd. Oracle, an enterprise software company, is the fastest growing stand-alone business intelligence platform in the Asia Pacific region. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Grover said telecom and financial services organisations were early adopters of business intelligence solutions in India. A combination of factors ranging from Basel II compliance and intense competition had seen the banking industry quickly move to adopt business intelligence solutions, he said. Similarly, the heightened war on the price front and the huge customer churn had forced the telecom companies to seriously look for a differentiating factor through provision of value added services. Mr. Grover said business intelligence was the best way to address these issues. "The boom in knowledge process outsourcing centres, IT-enabled services companies and the retail sector will also see the demand for business intelligence rise in the country," the Vice-President added. Ricky Kapur, General Manager (BI), Oracle, said business intelligence provided not only reporting capabilities but also real-time intelligence to use the insights into action.
