Judges, Ministers inspect work on court complex

Circuit Bench of Karnataka High Court to be housed in the building

SURPRISE VISIT: Karnataka High Court judges N.K. Patil and K.L. Manjunath, accompanied by Agricultural Marketing Minister Sharanabasappa Darshanapur and Animal Husbandry Minister Revu Naik, inspecting work on the court complex on the outskirts of Gul barga on Saturday.

GULBARGA: Karnataka High Court judges K.L. Manjunath and N.K. Patil, accompanied by Agricultural Marketing Minister Sharanabasappa Darshanapur and Animal Husbandry Minister Revu Naik, made a surprise visit to inspect progress in the construction of the proposed new court complex to house the Circuit Bench of the Karnataka High Court on the Gulbarga-Afsalpur Road on the outskirts of the city.

Mr. Manjunath, who is administrative judge of Gulbarga district, was keen to know about the progress of the new court building and the time fixed for the contractor to complete the work.

Mr. Manjunath and Mr. Patil interacted with officials of the M/s Unity Infra Project, which has been awarded the contract for constructing the new court complex at a cost of Rs. 65.45 crore, and those of the Public Works Department.

Officials of the Unity Infra Project and executive engineer of the Public Works Department Nagshetty Akka explained the progress in the construction to the two judges and Ministers .

Mr. Akka told the judges that foundation work for the complex was complete. The officials told the visiting judges that the court building should be ready by May 2008 . The complex is being constructed on 55.10 acres.

Mr. Darshanapur expressed satisfaction over the progress of the construction and was confident that the building would be ready before its deadline.
