KOZHIKODE: Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan will inaugurate work on the Sarovaram tourism project on Sunday. The project, originally named Swapna Nagari, had been hanging fire owing to bureaucratic wrangling over the transfer of land. Its first phase is expected to be ready for inauguration during the first anniversary celebrations of the LDF Government in May. The project works will be executed by the Uralungal Labour Contract Society. The Sarovaram project has caused considerable anxiety to nature lovers due to its proximity to the wetlands and its rich mangrove vegetation. However, the authorities have promised to leave the mangroves unharmed.
